About team members roles

Overview

When inviting team members to participate in shared chat on a brand, the Account Owner can assign roles that grant different permission levels. Besides the Account Owner (who is a Super Administrator), there are three assignable roles.

Administrator Role

Administrators have access to all platform sections including chat and console. They can perform exclusive tasks such as:

  • Accessing the developers' section (API keys, webhooks, API documentation)
  • Changing team members' roles
  • Changing general account details
  • Managing payment details and subscriptions
  • Setting team permissions for supervisors and agents

Only the Account Owner can change their own email/password and manage chat permissions for other admins.

Supervisor Role

Supervisors have full access to chat and console features except the developers' section. Their capabilities include:

  • Taking actions on phone numbers (authorizing, rebooting, recreating, screenshots, syncing)
  • Accessing analytics sections
  • Adding team members
  • Setting team permissions for agents

Agent Role

The agent platform focuses on chat work by restricting access to:

  • Chats
  • Files
  • Contacts
  • Help Center

By default, all users can open and interact with chats, though access can be restricted through custom permissions.

Key Notes

The role hierarchy accommodates companies needing varying visibility levels of WhatsApp number activity while preventing actions that could affect other users. Organizations should maintain at least one supervisor or admin available for device-specific tasks.
